Hoover Library is currently CLOSED. Patrons can return items to the 24-hour drop-box located to the right of the main entrance.

Learning in the Time of COVID19: Accessible Resources

This guide is designed to support our student body as we adapt to the changing educational landscape during the COVID19 situation.

Resources

Off-campus access to the library’s online resources - including databases, journals, and ebooks - is available to McDaniel College students, faculty, and staff only. Click on the off-campus access link to access the Library’s E-resources. 

Many journals and databases and vendors have made more materials available during the crisis. We have a file here that shows which databases and vendors we're working with: https://bit.ly/2XFDNg1 

This list will be maintained throughout the crisis. Resources highlighted in green are currently enabled. Access to these resources will work as follows:

  • New databases will appear as “Trial” on the library databases list, with the expiration date listed. We will tag these with major subject headings, so they should show up on your Blackboard lists.
  • Expansion of content in existing databases will be noted in the description, with the expiration date listed
  • New journals will appear on the journals list as they are enabled, with the expiration date listed and full-text will link through via the usual pathways from databases that index them. 

Note for all of these that the expiration dates may change.

Students were encouraged to return their physical items when they moved off campus in spring. If students will not be returning to campus, we request that they mail back any physical resources as soon as possible. We are waiving student late fees until the beginning of the spring semester, at which point students will need to return any materials they have checked out. Students who wish to renew their borrowed items may contact Peggy Klinge at pklinge@mcdaniel.edu.

While the college is focusing on online classes, the library will not be accepting requests for physical items that would need to be processed through the library, but is still open for requests of digital resources. Students are encouraged to return physical materials when they move off campus, or they may mail them to the library by the end of the semester.

Textbooks Rented from the McDaniel Bookstore MUST be shipped back to the Bookstore.
DO NOT return Bookstore rentals to Hoover Library.

McDaniel Bookstore  Spring Rental Returns

Spring Semester Rentals are no longer due 05/15/2020. The due date for all Spring Rental Returns has been pushed back to Monday, June 15th. Once this date draws closer, Renters will receive automated email reminders to return their books.  As of now students will need to return their Rentals via UPS as, again, the Bookstore is still closed to the public.  A link will be included in those emails that will take students to a FREE UPS label that can be used to ship their Rentals. Those wishing to return their Rentals early and not wait for the automated emails can use the following link to access a FREE UPS label:
