This is an identifying sources assignment I used in my second session for Corey Wronski-Mayersak and Elizabeth van den Berg's Fall 2012 FYS 1164 The Bard: The Books & The Boards class.

These are two worksheets I used in my second session with Ira Domser's FYS 1135 Theatre Appreciation class. In addition to JSTOR I talked about two other databases (MLA Bibliography and Project MUSE), but only briefly. This was a class that did not have any research assignments that they were working on that I could design my sessions around.

I adapted two of Rhonda's worksheets for use in Bill Spence's and Gretchen McKay's FYS 1108 From Chaos to Compromise classes:

These are the cards I used in the different versions of the book-finding exercise I did with a lot of my Fall 2012 FYS classes. In each instance, the students had to work in groups to look up the information on the card, find a book in the stacks, and bring it back to the lecture room and (using the table of contents and index) show me where in the book they found the information on the card was discussed. Some classes included an additional evaluation exercise. Hover over the link for details specific to that class's version of the assignment.
