Join the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, Vote for Astra and Vote Early Day for this live virtual text banking Couch Party on October 19th to ensure everyone we know has a plan to vote early. We'll train you how to use the OutVote app to text contacts in your phone with pre-written messages to make a plan to be early voters this election while partying with live music.
Couch Parties are a great way to reinvent the registration drive and engage students, friends, and classmates online this fall. We hope it will give our students a fun and safe way to help get out the vote!
Volunteers will be able to text folks using the OutVote app and pre-written scripts to help people register to vote, request an absentee ballot, plan to vote early, and learn about candidates and issues on their ballot.
OutVote is a relational organizing app that makes it simple to mobilize friends, family, colleagues and classmates. Using pre-written scripts (already downloaded in the app), you'll text your contacts and help them register to vote, make a plan to vote safely, and learn about candidates and issues on their ballot.
Search for and download OutVote in your phone's app store, or scan the below QR code:
If you want to use a computer instead of the app, go to this link.
Open OutVote and input the All In campaign code: 020333.
You'll be asked to enter your first name, last name, and phone number.
Then, you'll be prompted to sign up using either email or your Facebook account.
You will be prompted to sync your phone contacts. If not, you can do so manually by selecting the address book icon and selecting "Sync My Contacts."
Outvote protects your data and gives you full control--they will never use it for their own purposes. At any time, you can close your account and all your information will be deleted.
Select the Search icon (magnifying glass) and on the "Search for a team" line, enter the McDaniel Votes Team code: 453578.
Go to the Home icon on the app, and you should see the All In Campus Democracy Challenge Couch Party Texting as a pinned Featured Action at the top of the screen. Select that Action and then select the Blue "Start" button. You're ready to text!
Once your contact you've texted responds, navigate to the OutVote app and select the Message icon. Select their name to see your message history.
Select "Follow up" and choose a response based on what your contact said. Each time you respond using a pre-written answer, OutVote will navigate you to your native texting app where you can make any adjustments to the message to make it sound more like you (and less like a robot).
When you've finished texting that person, navigate back to OutVote, select the contact's name, and select "Fill Report." Here, you can tag relevant information about your correspondence that will be helpful for future contact.
When you're done filling out their information, select "Send to Campaign." This is how the McDaniel Votes team will tally your contributions towards the $50 Amazon Gift Card prizes.
Every time one of the presidential candidates mentions something on your card, mark off that square. When you get a bingo in any direction, celebrate! Even better, let us know about your bingo on social media! (@hooverlibmcdaniel)
